News from the 219th General Assembly (2010)
Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)
The 219th gathering of the General Assembly of
the Presbyterian Church (USA) has closed its work. Now it is up to the churches
and presbyteries of the denomination to study and explore General Assembly
recommendations. The Assembly met in Minneapolis, Minnesota for a week of
worship and work. Some issues of discussion were: standards of ordination, the
Form of Government and the role of middle governing bodies (particularly
synods), Christian/Muslim dialogue, and Christian/Jewish relationships, in
particular financial investments connected to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict.
It is good to be well informed before voicing opinions about these complicated
issues. We will be presenting topics for study and deliberation, and you are
