News from the 219th General Assembly (2010)

Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)

The 219th gathering of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA) has closed its work. Now it is up to the churches and presbyteries of the denomination to study and explore General Assembly recommendations. The Assembly met in Minneapolis, Minnesota for a week of worship and work. Some issues of discussion were: standards of ordination, the Form of Government and the role of middle governing bodies (particularly synods), Christian/Muslim dialogue, and Christian/Jewish relationships, in particular financial investments connected to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict.

It is good to be well informed before voicing opinions about these complicated issues. We will be presenting topics for study and deliberation, and you are encouraged to read about the GA on its website: http://oga.pcusa.org/generalassembly, http://ga219.pcusa.org,  or http://ga219.pcusa.org/news/source/ga219/archives/.
