The Reverend Dr. Ann B. Jahnes has been a Presbyterian minister for twenty-eight years. Prior to coming to Southport, she served in the Iona Community, Scotland, both small and large Presbyterian churches in North Carolina, and in campus ministry.  Ann received a Doctor of Ministry degree in Christian Spirituality from Columbia Theological Seminary, a Master of Divinity degree in the History of Religions from Princeton Theological Seminary, and a Master’s Diploma of Ecumenical Studies from St. Andrews University, Scotland.

Ann and her husband, Bob, have four adult children, two dogs and two cats. One of her favorite biblical verses is John 10:10, “I have come that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” Ann has describes her purpose in ministry as “The Encouragement of Sacred Living.”

Laurie Russ joined Southport Presbyterian’s staff in July, 2007, and brings to our music ministry broad experience as a music professional and educator.  She has served in many roles including:

·         Music Director and Pianist at other area churches

·         Music Directress at Wilmington Montessori School

·         Piano Directress at Helen Alice Higgins (HAH) Montessori School

·         Piano Instructor at Southeastern Community College, Whiteville

·         Independent Piano Teacher in Wilmington

·         Piano Accompanist for Sea Notes Choral Society

Laurie’s educational background includes:

·         Bachelor of Music, Meredith College with a major in Piano Performance and Pedagogy

·         Graduate Study, University of North Carolina at Greensboro

·         Licensed “Kindermusik” Educator

Southport Presbyterian Church’s music program includes:

·         Chancel Choir with rehearsals Wednesdays 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.

·         Chime Choir with rehearsals Wednesdays 4:15 – 5:30 p.m.

·         Special music offerings during the Christmas and Holy Week seasons
