Southport Presbyterian Men's Group Challenge

We, the men of the Southport Presbyterian Church, affirm our part in the mission of Jesus Christ, which teaches and guides us in helping each other spiritually and in self development; challenges us to growth in stewardship with our time and talent in our church and community, and to work in partnership with the Presbyterian Women for Christ.

            LOGO

There is a scriptural purpose to Presbyterian Men which is shown clearly in our historic logo.

The word IXOUS (pronounced "ickthus") means "fish."  But the Greek letters in this word also spell out a secret message: Jesus Christ, of God, Son and Savior! In the days of the early church this symbol was traced on a wall or the dust of the street to advise Christians of the presence of  brothers and sisters in the faith.  We wear it to advise each other and to follow our Lord's command and to become "fishers of men," to bring others to Christ as Andrew brought Peter and Philip brought Nathaniel.   We work our this purpose face to face and person to person.

The circle in our logo is a reminder of our unity with other Christian men worldwide and especially of the reunion of Presbyterian denominations.
