Meal Ministry Restocking Needs
Our meal ministry offers home–cooked meals for care and support for members who may be dealing with illness, loss, or hospitalization. Meals prepared by members are kept in the freezer for anyone to take. Please think of this ministry when preparing soups, casseroles, or main dishes. The freezer and containers are in the workroom. If you know of someone who needs a meal, please complete a form noting how many meals you have taken. No permission needed. The meal ministry allows us to be the hands, feet, heart, and mouth of Jesus Christ for others who are suffering. Serve with Joy! Contact Gail Hedgecock or Charlotte Duncan for questions.
Rise Against Hunger Comes Back to SPC!

All are invited to participate in a Rise Against Hunger “Meal Packing” event Sat., March 19, 9:30 – Noon in SPC’s Fellowship Hall. Volunteers can sign up here, on SPC’s website or call the church office.

Co-founded as Stop Hunger Now in 1998, the organization rebranded to become Rise Against Hunger in 2017. Since 1998 contributions have helped provide five hundred million meals to people in need around the world. Rise Against Hunger’s global initiative has been implementing sustainable community development projects ranging from the meal packaging program that harnesses the passion of local volunteers to promoting self-sufficiency and empowerment in communities, nourishing lives, and responding to emergencies.

The simple bags of rice and soy assembled at Meal Packing events, represent the hopes and dreams of people worldwide. Volunteers are the heart of our mission to end hunger, and Rise Against Hunger could not send millions of meals around the globe each year without them.
Living the Vision Opportunities for Involvement
All members are encouraged to fill out our new form (formerly known as “Time & Talent), which is designed to assist both new and long-time members to find a small group and a way to belong and serve at SPC. Involvement opportunities include spiritual, educational, service and fellowship groups and activities. It is this involvement and service that weaves the fabric of our church family and enriches, spiritually and socially, the lives of those who serve and those who are served.
This form can be easily downloaded, filled in on your computer and emailed (spc.members@southportpresbyterian.com) as an attachment to the church office. The form can also be downloaded from southportpresbyterian.com under the Documents & Forms in the upper top menu tab.
While we encourage filing out and sending electronically, you can request a form from the church office to fill out manually and return.
