The Reopening Task Force has good news to pass on to the congregation. Absent any significant uptick in the number of COVID-19 cases in the church service area, it is the intention of the Task Force to move the church into a “limited Phase 3” of the Roadmap for Reopening. Phase 3 of the Roadmap provides for both Gathered Worship in the Sanctuary with limited numbers as well as small groups in the Ministry Center. The portion of Phase 3 that the Task Force intends to authorize is small groups in the Ministry Center after October 1 with a limit of 10 participants per group. Please keep in mind that this authorization is subject to the COVID numbers remaining stable. Groups up to 15 participants may sign up for outdoor meetings.
The small group component of Phase 3 includes the following:
• Request to the church Office Administrator for the use of a room.
• The participants, including the host/teacher, must pre-register with the church office.
• Participants must bring and wear their own face mask.
The Task Force will be reviewing the size of rooms and the layout of the room to establish an optimal layout to allow for the maximum use of the respective room while maintaining physical distancing for safety purposes. Hand sanitizer will be available for small group participants.
The Task Force decided not to move forward with the remaining component of Phase 3, Gathered Worship in the Sanctuary, until more time has passed to assess any increase in the number of COVID cases in our service area that may occur based upon the North Carolina Phase 2.5. Additional time will also allow for the Task Force to complete the logistical items associated with Gathered Worship in the Sanctuary. The move to limited Phase 3 is progress toward a return, albeit limited, to church service on Sunday. The Task Force is dedicated to moving the church forward during this difficult time while maximizing safety. Please keep an eye out in the future for the move to a full Phase 3 reopening.
REMINDER: When entering the church, please enter through the Narthex by the Memorial Garden, sign the contact register, and proceed directly to your desitination. Face masks are required.
