Southport Presbyterian Church hosted more than 125 church leaders representing 30 congregations in the Presbytery of Coastal Carolina, Presbyterian Church (USA) for their East Community quarterly gathering on June 15.

The keynote speaker was Rev. Dr. Joan Gray, teaching elder and author of three books, including Sailboat Church: Helping Your Church Rethink Its Mission and Practice, Spiritual Leadership for Church Officers, and Presbyterian Polity for Church Leaders, with Joyce C.Tucker. Gray, who served as the Moderator of the 217th Presbyterian Church (USA) General Assembly in 2006, resides in Atlanta, GA. She is a national speaker who is considered an expert on church polity and structure.

The meeting workshops centered on the theme, “Enriching Souls . . . Raising Souls,” with topics on developing healthy communication, inter-generational recreation, spiritual leadership, healthy communication, meaningful worship and fostering a way of life for congregations that make a difference in the neighborhood.
